The GridSolve project is looking to hire a Graduate Research Assistant to support the evolution of NetSolve and its successor GridSolve. This is a long term position with opportunities for publication as well as possible research topics.
NetSolve/GridSolve is a RPC based client/agent/server system for high performance network computing that aggregates distributed computational resources for remote scientific problem solving. The NetSolve project won a R&D 100 award in 1999 as one of the year's most significant technological innovations.
The primary duties of this position include research, development, and software support for the GridSolve distributed computing effort. The initial tasks will include enabling several high performance numerical libraries so that they are accessible from the GridSolve system. The technical areas involved span grid computing, distributed computing, scheduling,client-server systems, and user interfaces.
The position requires experience in C programming and client-server distributed computing. Familiarity with scientific computing, parallel architectures, and networking is also desired.
