UTK Newton Cluster

The cluster consists of over 100 x86_64 compute nodes with a total of
over 600 processor cores. All nodes are connected via 1Gbit Ethernet
and Infiniband. The operating system is Scientific Linux 5.2 (Redhat Enterprise compatible). Primary storage is in the form of a
10TB EMC CX300 NAS and a 24TB Sunfire X4500. The batch-queue system is
Sun Grid Engine.

8 intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz with 2 GB of RAM nodes (battlecat1-battlecat8) plus a dual dual-core Xeon 1.6 GH with 2 GB of ram (battlecat0). Just like the TORCs this cluster is open, you can ssh in to any node with your username and password.

We have a new general login solaris 9 machine, beaker.cs.utk.edu. It is a Sun Blade 100 with a 502 Mhz UltraSPARC-IIe Processor and 512 MB of RAM.

HP01-HP02

hp01-hp02 are now up again. They are not able to run Red Hat AS4, so they are running AS3. Your code might not be compatible between hp03-hp06 and hp01-hp02.

Webserver changes

The webserver is in the process of being moved from icl.cs.utk.edu to fozzy.cs.utk.edu. You will no longer be able to ssh into icl and get the quad solaris machine. For use of the old icl.cs.utk.edu you will need to log in to ig.cs.utk.edu.

Linux OS switch to Debian

All of our non-server linux machines will be switched over to Debian over the summer. We will be starting this process in early July and expect to be done by the beginning of the fall semester. If you want to make sure your software is compatible you can use davinci.cs.utk.edu to test your code.

MSC Cluster is no more.

The msc cluster has been recomissioned as the torc cluster, and the original torc machines have be removed.
