Begin to panic now. Please help with my LAPACK & ATLAS

Postby freshPhD » Thu Jun 15, 2006 1:05 pm

Hello,
I have tried to install ATLAS AND LAPACK into my Mac G4 machine for two days. And I have met various problems. Now I am up to something beyond my ability. I would apreciate it if anybody could help me.

I have intalled ATLAS AND tested it. Now I am trying to install LAPACK using ATLAS's blas. My make.inc file is:

####################################################################
# LAPACK make include file. #
# LAPACK, Version 3.0 #
# June 30, 1999 #
####################################################################
#
SHELL = /bin/sh
#
# The machine (platform) identifier to append to the library names
#
PLAT = _G4
#
# Modify the FORTRAN and OPTS definitions to refer to the
# compiler and desired compiler options for your machine. NOOPT
# refers to the compiler options desired when NO OPTIMIZATION is
# selected. Define LOADER and LOADOPTS to refer to the loader and
# desired load options for your machine.
#
FORTRAN = g77
#OPTS = -O4 -u -f -mt
#OPTS = -u -f -dalign -native -xO5 -xarch=v8plusa
OPTS = -O3
DRVOPTS = $(OPTS)
NOOPT = -O0
#NOOPT = -u -f -mt
LOADER = g77
#LOADOPTS = -mt
LOADOPTS = -O5
#
# The archiver and the flag(s) to use when building archive (library)
# If you system has no ranlib, set RANLIB = echo.
#
ARCH = ar
ARCHFLAGS= cr
RANLIB = ranlib
#
# The location of the libraries to which you will link. (The
# machine-specific, optimized BLAS library should be used whenever
# possible.)
#
#BLASLIB = ../../blas$(PLAT).a
#BLASLIB = -xlic_lib=sunperf_mt
BLASLIB = -L/Users/pavonine/ATLAS/lib/G4/ -lf77blas -latlas \
-L/usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.1 \
-L/usr/lib/gcc/darwin -L/usr/libexec/gcc
LAPACKLIB = lapack$(PLAT).a
TMGLIB = tmglib$(PLAT).a
EIGSRCLIB = eigsrc$(PLAT).a
LINSRCLIB = linsrc$(PLAT).a

#####################

And I have got an error message like:

( cd TIMING/LIN; make )

g77: linsrc_G4.a: No such file or directory

Any hints?

Thanks.

It is just that your are missing your linsrc_G4.a library in the TIMING/LIN directory.
To create it, juste go in the TIMING/LIN directory and type
Code: Select all
make  linsrc_G4.a

Check that after that command you have your missing library by running the following command in the TIMING/LIN directory
Code: Select all
ls linsrc_G4.a

that should solve your issue.

Sincerely
Julie

I cannot create a linsrc_G4.a file

Thanks a lot.

I have tried that. However, it shows:

make: *** No rule to make target `linsrc_G4.a'. Stop.

Any new ideas?

Problem resolved. Thanks to Julie

According to Julie: "Our makefile does not take care of non-case sensitive architecture like Mac OSX.

So go in the TIMING/LIN/LINSRC directory and type make

It should create your linsrc library in the TIMING/LIN directory".

It works. Now I am testing the library.

Thank you all.
