Re: potrs : does it do host-gpu memory transfers

the system we are trying to solve is a tridiagonal sysem. Ey=s. Here E is tridiagonal [diagonal offsets (-1,0,1)]. If Eis d*d matrix then y and s are d*1 vectors. I request the moderators to please answer this question since i am using MAGMA in my project and i have to submit a paper where i refer t...

potrs : does it do host-gpu memory transfers

Hi I want to know if the magam_dpotrs_gpu function does involve some GPU-CPU and back to GPU memory transfers? I ask this since the system we solve (in dpotrs) is more suited for sequential calculation than parallel. i am using magma 1.1 with cuda 4.1 on tesla c2070 with a quad core CPU. Kindly sugg...

dgesv return cuctxsynchronize error

Hi i have been trying to solve a linear system of equations using magma. i posted in this forum regarding the use of dgemv kernel generating wrong results so i moved on to a more general approach provided by magma i am now using dgesv specifically magma_dgesv_gpu and passing it a square matrix and a...

dgemv returns wrong results

hi i am using magmablas_dgemv function for calculating a matrix vector product however the results do not seem to match those generated by the magma_dpotrf_gpu (followed by) magma_dpotrs_gpu. the matrix is really small 8x8. the hardware i am running it on is a C2050. does anyone face a similar probl...

magmablas_dgemv anomalous behavior

hi i have been using the dgemv function on a machine with two tesla(1070) cards. i have an matrix of dimension dxd. Now in my first call i only use one tesla card and call the function like this magmablas_dgemv('N',d,d,1.0,matrix,d,vector_in,1,0.0,vector_out,1); this works fine. after this i launch ...

Re: problems compiling magma 1.0 with atlas 3.8.0

Hi One more thing is that as soon as i comment the magma_dpotrf_gpu and magma_dpotrs_gpu functions i do not face any errors in compiling my code. That means the problem is linked to how these functions are talking to ATLAS. However i still do not know how to fix the problem. Please suggest something...

Re: problems compiling magma 1.0 with atlas 3.8.0

Hi I also tried with compiling a separate LAPACK library other than a global one available on my system but i still face the same error /home/nw/gupta/lapack-3.3.1/lapack_LINUX.a(xerbla.o): In function `xerbla': /home/nw/gupta/lapack-3.3.1/SRC/xerbla.f:40: undefined reference to `_gfortran_st_write'...

hi i compiled my MAGMA source and then also i get the same error -lcuda -lmagma -lmagmablas -lmagma -L/home/nw/gupta/ATLAS_3.8.0/Linux_64/lib -L/home/nw/gupta/CLAPACK-3.2.1/F2CLIBS/ -L/opt64/cuda-3.2/cuda//lib64 /opt64/lapack/lapack_LINUX.a -lf77blas -latlas -lcblas -lf2c -lcublas -lm /opt64/lapack/...

problems compiling magma 1.0 with atlas 3.8.0

Hi i am trying to compile magma against atlas 3.8.0 and cuda3.2 for a fermi/tesla machine in a linux environment. i seem to be getting the following errors /home/nw/gupta/ATLAS_3.8.0/Linux_64/lib/libf77blas.a(xerbla.o): In function `xerbla_': xerbla.f:(.text+0x51): undefined reference to `_gfortran_...
