xGESVD failed for some sizes

Postby hmli » Wed Oct 24, 2012 5:11 am

I am using magma-1.2.1 and cuda 4.2.9 in our project. testing_[sdcz]gesvd works fine on some sizes ( eg -M 274 -N 1600) but fails on curtain sizes ( eg -M 274 -N 2345).

/magma-1.2.1/testing> ./testing_sgesvd -M 274 -N 1600
device 0: GeForce GT 640, 901.5 MHz clock, 2047.7 MB memory, capability 3.0

I had the same issue on C1060(compute capability=1.3), GT640, GTX 670(compute capability=3.0) on either 32bit or 64bit linux platform. I've read topic "Problem with testing_zgesv"(http://icl.cs.utk.edu/magma/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=468) and rebuilt magma with gcc instead of icc, but the problem remains. I am new both to lapack and to magma so I reckon it's very possible that I used the lib in a wrong way. Any solutions?
