Error compiling PAPI on Ubuntu 11.10 64bits

Postby eyderrios » Tue Oct 18, 2011 9:58 am

I'm trying compile PAPI on Ubuntu 11.10 / x86_64 (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10GHz).
I am getting the following output when run "configure".
I've done many searches looking for a solution without success.
Any help will be wellcome.

Thanks,

Eyder Rios

I think the problem could be at line #3520 of "configure" script.

Code: Select all
If { (eval echo "$as_me:$LINENO: \"$ac_link\"") >&5

The expanded value of $ac_link variable is:
Code: Select all
gcc -o conftest  -g   -ldl conftest.c

When I execute this command separatelly, I get link errors:
Code: Select all
gcc -o conftest  -g   -ldl conftest.c
/tmp/ccphIDCh.o: In function `main':
/tmp/conftest.c:26: undefined reference to `dlopen'
/tmp/conftest.c:26: undefined reference to `dlerror'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

However if I execute this command changing the place of "-ldl" directive:
Code: Select all
gcc -o conftest  -g  conftest.c -ldl

The code compiles with no errors.

Please, comment!

this is a bug in our configure script and is fixed in CVS (and will be in the 4.2 release which will be out soon).

It's working after update to 5.3.0 version.
Thanks for helping.
